What This Service Involves

On steep grades, shaded corridors, and critical intersections, traction sand provides immediate grip where deicers alone may be insufficient in colder temperatures. Our crews apply sand at calibrated rates to priority locations identified in your winter plan, focusing on hills, curves, and stop-controlled intersections. Sand is a practical option in very cold conditions and in areas where chloride use is restricted near sensitive waters. We coordinate application with plowing and, importantly, plan for post-event sweeping so sand does not enter storm drains once conditions clear. All applications are logged by location.
