Japanese and giant knotweed spread aggressively along Western Washington streambanks and require a persistent, water-conscious approach that Washington City Services provides. We use stem injection and precise foliar treatment to move systemic product into the extensive rhizome network without broadcast spraying near water. Because knotweed rarely dies in a single season, we commit to a multi-year suppression schedule with documented decline each year. Work along fish-bearing waters is coordinated with any county lead-entity or Ecology conditions in place.

1) Map and measure the knotweed stand and confirm water-buffer requirements; 2) Apply stem injection or targeted foliar treatment based on stem size; 3) Record treated area and stem counts for year-over-year comparison; 4) Return in subsequent seasons until the stand is suppressed
