Where Efficiency Meets Reliability.
Post-holiday collection and recycling of Christmas trees into mulch or compost.
After the holidays, jurisdictions field a surge of discarded trees that should not go to landfill. We run collection points or curbside pickups and chip the trees for reuse. The resulting mulch can return to agency grounds or the compost stream. A well-run program keeps trees out of the waste stream and gives residents an easy option.
Trees diverted from landfill; Chipped into reusable mulch; Collection points or curbside options; Easy resident participation
1) Set collection points or a pickup window; 2) Publicize the recycling program; 3) Collect and chip the trees; 4) Return mulch or send to compost
Number of trees expected; Collection method and points; Chipping and hauling effort; Public notice effort; Mulch reuse versus disposal
The program runs in the weeks following the winter holidays, typically through January.
